Rice elephants are distributed all over the world. It is mainly distributed in southern provinces and autonomous regions in China. Enjoys eating grains. Producing water through metabolism, never "drinking water" throughout one's life. I like the smell of coal and it will enter the gas stove outlet and form a net. At low temperatures, enter a state of suspended animation and resume activity after returning to normal body temperature. The optimal temperature for adult overwintering in the warehouse is 26-31 degrees Celsius. Eggs are laid in the small holes of the grain chiseled by the beak, one egg per hole, and grow and develop in the grain until they emerge as adult insects.

Rice weevils are one of the important storage pests, mainly harming aged grains stored for 2-3 years. They have strong reproductive ability and a large appetite, causing huge losses to grain storage.

Sitophilus oryzae belongs to the order Coleoptera, family Elephantidae, also known as rice weevil or grain beetle. It is a fully metamorphosed insect with four developmental stages: egg, larva, pupae, and adult. It is the main pest for storing grains and mainly parasitizes in aged grains stored for 2-3 years, such as corn, rice, wheat, sorghum, and flour. Its adult insects feed on grain particles, while the young insects feed inside the grains. Due to its fast growth and reproduction rate, it has a wide range of hazards and can be distributed all over the world. In China, it is mainly distributed in the south. In recent years, the harm caused by rice elephants has been relatively serious.

Rice weevils are one of the important storage pests, mainly endangering aged grains stored for 2-3 years. They have strong reproductive ability and a large appetite, thus causing huge losses to grain storage. The main prevention and control methods are as follows:

(1) Improve the storage conditions of grain, keep the warehouse clean, block gaps to prevent the entry of rice weevils and other storage pests, thereby reducing the harm to grain;

(2) Improve storage techniques, such as using plant ash, plastic film, or kraft paper to isolate storage pests. If a pest infestation has occurred, the rice weevil should be driven out of the grain through exposure to sunlight, so as to separate the grains with and without pests;

(3) By spraying pesticides or fumigation with phosphine;

(4) If the amount of stored food is small, it can also be protected from the harm of rice weevils by using insect proof packaging or adding long-lasting odor repellents to the packaging bags.
